Founded in 2011, Updater supports 25% of US households with a marketplace of moving and home management services and tools. Updater actively acquires and merges companies in the moving services and logistics space and in 2019, found itself with many options for investing in new digital solutions to better streamline and package their capabilities into software products.
The task was to define and test all the options for investing in new digital products and come up with a clear direction for the company to invest in building next.
Map out and establish the mover journey for multiple customer segments including pain points. For each segment, overlay all the options for new digital products. Structure test plan to make sure people only saw test concepts applicable to their needs - for example move out vs. move in or apartment vs. house.
Design polished concept solutions for 50+ new product ideas including pricing and service level options (gold, silver, bronze) for half (~25) of these new ideas.
Define and execute a testing plan that enabled a cross functional team of designers, engineers, product managers, and the business owners (CEO and President) to run high velocity, high volume quantitative experiments across all the solution ideas on the live marketing site without negative impact to existing business to identify those with the highest interest.
